The BT 700 grand depart will occur once yearly from St. Jacobs, Ontario. The date for the 2023 event is Sunday June 18th at 8:00am. The event is open to those who want to 'race' or 'tour' the route. Riders can also take on the BT 700 XL or BT 700 Light route during this time. More details can be found on the bikepacking.com event site.
From aid stations to cementing new cycling friends, there are many benefits to taking part in this bikepacking grand depart. Fill out the form below and I will add you to the start list. Note: If you sign up for the grand depart but decide you cannot attend please let me know so I can remove your name from the start list.
It is not an official race or paid official event. Each rider assumes complete responsibility for their own safety. Riders may ride alone, in pairs, or small groups, it is entirely up to them.
There will also be a social gathering in St. Jacob's the night before (Saturday June 17th) the big send-off.
For the Grand Depart, the BT 700 will be up on Follow My Challenge for anyone interested in having their dot-watched. It is supported by SPOT and Garmin InReach devices and rental units will be available. (The use of Follow My Challenge is encouraged by not mandatory to ride this route). Fill out this form to use Follow My Challenge. (Note: for riders renting tracking units registration needs to be completed 2 weeks in advance to allow adequate time for shipping of units.)
A week or two before the grand depart a detailed information package will be provided to riders including the finalized route.
If you are in need of accommodation in St. Jacob's the Holiday Inn is offering special room rates for riders. You can access this rate by booking a room through this link.
